As I have baking donut muffins frequently as of late for the girls, I decided to purchase a couple of donut pans. The Wilton pans included a basic donut recipe that I figured was worth a try. As you can see by the pictures below, I immediately added my own twist of including blueberries for one of the batches.
The donuts turned out well! Everyone enjoyed them, but I definitely wanted to try some other recipes.
Baked Cake Donuts

Ingredients:
2 cups cake flour, sifted
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup buttermilk
2 eggs, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons butter, melted
blueberries (optional)
confectioners' sugar (optional)
Directions:
1) Preheat oven to 425F. Spray donut pan with nonstick cooking spray.
2) In large mixing bowl, sift together cake flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg and salt. Add buttermilk, eggs and butter. Beat until just combined. Fill each donut cup approximately 2/3 full.
3) Bake 7-9 minutes or until the top of the donuts spring back when touched. Let cool in pan for 4-5 minutes before removing. Finish donuts with chocolate glaze, cinnamon sugar or confectioners' sugar. Donuts are best served fresh.
Makes 12 Donuts

ReplyDeleteI just bought a Wilton Donut pan and made this recipe (post coming shortly) using the same recipe on the packaging. They were good but just not wonderful. So I am perusing other recipes for a fantastic donut. That is how I came here. I love blueberries and think your idea is great.
