I am always on the hunt to find the perfect waffles, that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I have tried a few but nothing stands out. The problem could be that I have an ancient waffle iron, but I can't bear to toss this one out. So I will continue to try more recipes.
So why not try what hotels do? Those taste pretty good, don't they? I tried the Copycat Hotel Waffles on Yammie's Noshery. These turned out much better than the previous ones that I tried. It was definitely fluffier on the inside but not quite as crispy as I wanted. Perhaps, I need to make sure the iron is really hot. I will definitely give this another try.
Copycat Hotel Waffles
Makes about 6 waffles (depending on your waffle iron)
Ingredients:
6 eggs
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/3 cup sugar
2 cups flour (use cake flour for crispier waffles)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon baking powder
Directions:
1) Preheat your waffle iron to high heat. The hotter the better. That makes the outside crispy and the inside moist.
2) Beat together the eggs, oil, milk, vanilla, and sugar. Mix together the flour, salt, and baking powder and whisk into the wet ingredients.
3) Cook them according to your waffle iron's instructions.
