Spaghetti with Apples, Pine Nuts and Cinnamon



Now for something completely different....Spaghetti with Apples, Pine Nuts and Cinnamon.  I came across this recipe on an Italian website and wanted to give it a try.  I would never have considered the combination of spaghetti and apples.  This recipe is also called Sweet Spaghetti.  What I like about this is the simplicity and use of everyday ingredients.  However in the end, this dish did not just ok.

Spaghetti with Apples, Pine Nuts and Cinnamon
(makes 4 servings)

Ingredients:
320 grams spaghetti
2 apples
40 grams pine nuts
50 grams butter
cinnamon to taste

Directions:
1)  Cook pasta in salted water until al dente.
2)  Peel the apples and cut into small cubes.
3)  In a large pan melt the butter, add the apples and cook until they are tender and golden brown (about 5-10 minutes), stirring occasionally, then add the pine nuts and cook for 1 minute.
4)  Drain the pasta, put it into the pan and mix thoroughly but gently. Divide the noodles among individual plates with sauce.  Sprinkle with cinnamon and serve.
