I am still a newbie when it comes to baking cookies. Maybe it might be a good thing if it stayed that way! I absolutely love fresh home-made cookies! Thank goodness the Sugar Cookies and Pecan Shortbread that we made disappeared so quickly! As always, I wanted to try something new. These Spritz Cookies on Kirbie Cravings was exactly what I was looking for.
These Spritz Cookies met every expectation that I had! I am becoming much better at using a cookie press now. However, I still need to figure out how to better decorate the cookies.
Classic Spritz Cookies (from the side of my Wilton cookie press box)
Ingredients:
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 cups butter softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Directions:
1) Preheat oven to 350ºF.
2) In bowl, combine flour and baking powder and set aside. In a separate large bowl, beat butter and sugar with electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add egg, milk, vanilla and almond extract; mix well. Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture; beat until combined. Do not chill. Fill cookie press with dough and with desired disks, press cookies onto ungreased cookie sheet.
3) Bake 10-12 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool 2 minutes on cookie sheet on cooling rack. Remove from sheet; cool completely.
